AQUA

The sculpture was created from a 95-pound piece green chlorite This sculpture began on March of 2020, and was completed on October 28th, 2022.  A rough total of well over 300 hours was spent creating the piece.  There were no power tools used to create this sculpture; all work was done by hand.

The sculpture was then hand- rubbed to its desired gloss.  No sealers or waxes were used to polish the stone.  Some areas of the sculpture were left in rough stone; this is a trademark of the sculptor. Leaving these rough areas keeps the work connected to its original form. With Aqua, I wanted to go a simple universal shape.

A single drop of water. A common thing, yet the very building block if life. Although the form of a drop looks simply made, it is a very complex shape in three dimensions. Keeping the center of mass in the center of the piece. The number of different radiuses, their balance along the curve of the sculpture. Creating Aqua was as complex as water itself.
